SIGN UPS & PRACTICES
A month before practices begin for each sport, the sign up form will be open to the team.
You must be an active CenTex Rockets athlete to sign up for a sport.
Practices will be held once a week and will begin approximately 8-10 weeks before the sport's Area competition. Most practices will be located in Georgetown (Bocce in Round Rock and Swimming in Cedar Park). Your athlete will need to attend at least five practices to be eligible to compete with the team at Area, including two out of the first three practices and the last practice.
Practices are vital to collect stats on the athlete to ensure they are competing in the appropriate group.
AREA COMPETITIONS
Area competitions are the regional competitions. We practice for each sport in order to compete at Area. This is the first opportunity where your athlete can earn their medals.
Our team is a part of the Central Texas Area 13 within the Special Olympics Texas organization. You can view the Area 13 page on the Special Olympics website here. You can see the schedule for each Area competition under the Calendar section.
STATE COMPETITIONS
Three times a year, there are state competitions. State competitions are optional but they are a lot of fun and we hope you'll get to join us when we go!
These are categorized as:
Your athlete may compete in all of the sports' Area competitions that they choose but when attending a state competition, they can only compete in one of the sports listed.
For example, they can be on the golf, bocce and swimming teams and compete in all three Area competitions individually but when attending Fall Classic, they would have to choose just ONE of the sports, per state competition to compete in.
***Athletes MUST have competed in the sport's Area competition if they want to compete in at State competition.
